At Splice, I was a member of the company and product leadership teams. Responsible for leading, growing and mentoring the design team with a healthy dose of innovation experimentation, and continuous discovery.
Accomplishments at Splice
Growing and mentoring a scalable design team
Working with my partner, the VP of Product, I executed a plan that scaled the design team and introduced a career ladder that included design director and principal designer paths.
Introduced design directors to provide in-the-moment guidance and career growth to ICs
Established design ceremonies to improve communication and involve our cross-functional partners and leadership
Stabilized an at-risk design team and created a culture of psychological safety
Establishing a UX research practice
Getting ongoing quick access to members was always a desire, but with so many musicians in the company, it was often over looked. We wanted to create a recurring time to talk to our users. Working with the Product team, we built a beta testers program and created a monthly expectation of design research. Members can book time with users through Slack and talk about anything from observation sessions to usability — expectations were set that they'd see unpolished work in progress.
